A 31-year-old man, who originally received a deferred sentence for a shoplifting spree in Ruddington and Clifton last September, is now behind bars after committing further offences over Christmas.
Following his original sentence, Aaron Kelly (pictured above), of no fixed address, was re-arrested on December 29th and re-sentenced the next day at Nottingham Crown Court after being found responsible for numerous, further shop thefts. Altogether he committed 41 crimes including stealing gift sets, food and makeup – as well as smashing goods inside a shop. Mr Kelly must now spend six months in jail.
Otherwise, December was a relatively ‘quiet’ period for crime in Ruddington, with Rushcliffe South Police saying just nine offences were reported in our village during the whole month.
The crimes reported via 101 from 1st – 31st December 2020 are listed in date order below:
1st Unknown suspects forced entry into a property on Bladon Road and stole a vehicle from the drive.
2nd Pushbike stolen from the Country Park where it had been left locked up.
4th Unknown male suspect entered Sainsbury’s and stole meat.
7/8th Catalytic convertor stolen overnight from a vehicle parked on Church Street. >>MORE<<
11th Female entered Sainsbury’s and stole items.
11th Overnight a Range Rover Evoke was stolen from Leys Road by unknown means – as the victim still had the keys. However, the vehicle was later recovered.
13th Officers spotted two high powered cars whilst on patrol that appeared to be in convoy. The vehicles were stopped and persons arrested after it was established they had been stolen at a burglary on Peacock Close.
17th Damage was caused to a car parked on Church Street when an unknown person threw a cone at it.
29th A female offender entered Sainsbury’s and stole items.
Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Craig Berry admits: “The festive period was by no means normal this year and crime and anti-social behaviour reporting was less than we would normally expect to see. The new tighter COVID regulations have restricted all of our lives for the short term – and Rushcliffe residents are on the whole doing the right thing in playing by the public health rules.”
